The goal of Hand in Hand Therapeutic Massage is to significantly decrease your level of pain & discomfort. To do this we draw from all the techniques available to us to create the session that best works for your particular situation. This work focuses solely on the area of discomfort, plus any areas they may be compensating or negatively impacted. We are not looking to waste your time and if need be, to ensure the best results, we may refer you to adjunct practitioners, such as Chiropractors & Acupuncturists.
We see many clients who have suffered from sciatica over many years, and others who are at the beginning of this very painful & uncomfortable condition (such as pregnancy induced sciatica). A complete reversal of this condition has been known to occur after one session or follow-up sessions may be needed depending on the cause & length of time the client has had this condition. These sessions usually focus solely on the low back, glutes and/or legs.
Pain, discomfort, restriction, tightness and even inflammation, can be held in the tissue of the back, neck & shoulders for many years. These sessions often use cupping and a series of gentle techniques that address tender muscle and fascia, facilitating a decrease in tenderness and increased mobility.
Shoulder, Neck, Hip & Abdomen
Focused work on any area of the body is often necessary to resolve an issue so our bodies can be healthy. For example, abdominal work can help with constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, or stomach pain. Focused neck work can increase range of motion, reduce stiffness & pain as well as the likelihood of developing headaches.
Headaches / Migraines
Depending on your personal history with headaches or migraines, their frequency and intensity, one session focused on your upper body, in particular the shoulders, neck, head & face, may be all that is needed. On the other hand you may need a more focused regime of 2 sessions a week until the frequency & intensity drops (often after 2 or 3 weeks), then moving to once a week and then every other week.
TMJ / TMD – Temporomandibular Joint Disorder
These 90-minute sessions focus exclusively on the shoulders, neck, head & face, working on the jaw muscles from the inside of the mouth using a combination of massage, neuromuscular and Craniosacral techniques. In many cases, one session is often enough to decrease jaw pain, tightness & any clenching or grinding to a manageable level.
Repetitive stress pain and injuries
These may include rotator cuff injuries, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, etc and can occur from any repeated activity such as carpentry, dentistry, playing an instrument, painting, computer work.
Post-SurgeryMassage can help increase circulation and range of motion and scar work can reduce scar formation while facilitating its proper healing. Even many years after shoulder, heart or breast surgery, body dynamics such as guarding by holding arms close to the body can be rectified with Post- Surgery Massage.
